The Ideation and The Sketches.

Well, after referring to some pictures I've found from the google, I've thought for some time about the basic idea. Since my topic about global warning is Open Air Burning, and I focused mainly on the burning trees, therefore, my basic ideation for my 2nd assignment will be a large and healthy tree on a piece of green land, and some nice landscape behind that particular tree.

This time, I decided to bring out the real scenery of the 2nd assignment instead of applying some cartonised item. So, based on this basic idea and concept, I've come out with 3 sketches of mine. So here they are...

Okie dokie, Here Comes The 2nd Assignment. ^^

Well, the 1st assignment has been submitted now, and we got back the printout as well during my computer graphic class this week. Without giving a break, here comes another assignment.

Basically, in this assignment, we were asked to create an illustration based on the area of the topic we were mentioning during the 1st assignment. So in my case, I'll have to draw a big big tree in a piece of green land. In order to make my 2nd assignment a success, I've done some research online, and I've even downloaded some pictures or photos taken as my references.

So, here's the pictures, enjoy.^^

What is this SYMBOL OF MINE indicating ?

The main reason I’m drawing this symbol is to REMIND human being about the importance of protecting our trees and being appreciative with the plants which are still available nowadays, instead of bringing fear into human about how bad that our earth is going to be if we are still not doing something which we are supposed to.

In the symbol I made, it can be seen that the reddish flame is being locked up in a box, with a big red cross put on it. That symbolizes the act of ceasing or preventing open air burning as it’s one of the main reasons which leads our world into this saddening condition.

Above the box, a pair of human’s hands is drawn on a piece of grassland. That is to indicate the importance of human being getting themselves approached to the nature. For the human’s hand, a fairer color is applied to bring a sense of harmony.

On the palms, a piece of land and a tree are drawn. It’s done that way to provoke the importance of human’s role in saving the world by appreciating trees. Besides that, it also reminds us about how much it’ll help in preventing global warning if we contribute willingly into planting trees. In this elementary symbol, the original colors of the tree, land and grass are remained to show the BEAUTY OF OUR NATURE in the future, if we really try our best to help in it. ^^

So, in the nut shell, this symbol means

Cease Burning,

Love the Trees.

My Symbol : Cease Burning, Love the Trees.

The Making Of My Symbol. ^^

After considering for some time, I've decided to create a SYMBOL which is going to bring some HOPE to this concept, about overcoming the Global Warming. ^^

So, this is my sketch.

After learning some basic techniques from my friend, I finally started my symbol designing.

First of all, a small box was drawn using a "Rectangle Tool" and the thickness of the box line was thickened using "stroke".

Grass was drawn and added by using "Symbol" tool.

Then, I applied "Pencil Tool" and I just randomly sketch out a shape of a hand.

After all the shaping and editing, i added some fair color onto the hand I've just shaped or edited. And once the color filling was done, I duplicated the hand and reflected it at the same time.

Once the hands were placed on the right position, I sent both hands backward, so that the lower part of the hands would be covered by the grass. And at the same time, I used the "Pencil Tool" to draw a piece of land, and brown color was filled into it as well.

Once the land was drawn, I applied the "Pencil Tool" once again to try sketching out the shape of a tree, even it's abit out of shape. =P

Afterward, I applied "Pen Tool" and "Warp Tool" to alter the tree to a better shape. Once it's done, I straight away added green and brown color onto the tree respectively.

Everything was done now except the fire. So, i started to sketch out the shape of the fire by using "Pencil Tool" again. Then, of course, the appropriate colors were filled into the fire I've just drawn.

Followed by that, the fire which was done edited was moved to the box together with two small logs I randomly drew.

At last, a cross formed by two red bars with 50% of capacity was put on the box to indicate the prevention of burning. So, here's my FINAL SYMBOL~!!!

My Sketches for my GW-"Open Air Burning". ^^

After thinking for a long time, I've come out with some of my ideas. However, my sketches accidentally clashed with some of the pictures found in the google. Sigh...guess that I'll have to come out with some more unique sketches again. So my friends, wait for some nicer sketches from me ya, I think I'll post those up very soon. ^^
Anyway, do give me some comments ya. Thx alot.

My smaller topic of GW - Open air Burning

Well, after doing some research more in the GW ( Global Warming ) issue, I realized that among all of the factors which lead our earth to the current condition, open air burning is considered one of the major factors. And I've to say, open air burning is really an eye sore to me, as it brings nothing to our earth but harm and danger.

Open air burning not only causes haze, it also "helps" in increasing the temperature of the earth. Besides that, it also causes more trees to ease. As ashes produced through out the burning lie on the surface of leaves, the photosynthesis process will be affected and it'll cause the trees and flowers which are in some areas nearby to ease due to the lacking of nutrition. The ease of trees will increase the percentage of carbon dioxide in air. And of course, the temperature as well.

That's why, open air burning must be controlled or prevented before it really causes GW to a more critical condition. In order to arouse people's awareness in this aspect, I decided to do some sketches about this particular topic. Therefore, research was done by me and the following pictures are what I found to help me in making my sketches.

The GLOBAL WARMING

Well, since some time ago, I've acknowledged the existence of Global Warming through a passage in newspaper. However, it didn't actually grab my full attention. So I just simply went through that.

When I was told about my 1st assignment in class, it once again reminded me about this topic. So, I decided to surf the internet. Surprisingly, now only i know how serious global warming is. Some said, it might be one of the main factor to bring human being to the end of the world. Scary huh ?
In order to remind myself how serious it actually is, I am gonna make an awesome sketching about it, but before that, I've downloaded some samples from the google.

Everything about the ME. ^^

Aloha, my name is Wong Jue Jin, and everyone calls me J.J ...so welcome to read my 1st blog ever. ^^
Well, for your information, I was born in Penang Island, in 1988. After that, I moved to a small city in Kedah called Sungai Petani when I was at the age of 2. And i stayed there for the next 2 years before I moved to Ipoh ultimately. Ipoh is a peaceful town to me, some even say that Ipoh is the best place for those retired ones to stay. And to be frank, I'm seriously in love with Ipoh. ^^
Emm, i love drawing very much, and taking pictures of course. And that explains why I'm now in MMU taking course in Creative Multimedia. However, I still think that my drawings haven't reached the standard yet, but I am kinda confident that after my studies and hardwork, I'm gonna be the successful one in this field. So, everyone, bless me.

Oh ya, just to tell, I've met alot of talented people here in MMU, and i enjoy just so much through learning from them. So let's just hope that I can improve alot more in the near future.^^

Emm, well, I guess it's enough of my crap already, so maybe I'll only blog again when there's any more update about my work in MMU. So see you all soon. PEACE and I LOVE MMU~^^
